Site Clearance & Ecological Surveys
Case Study
Complete Remediation was appointed to undertake site clearance works across a 30-acre site to enable safe access for ecological surveys.
The site comprised areas of dense vegetation, small trees, and coppiced woodland, with a live public bridleway running through the site.
The works required careful management to eliminate health and safety risks to ecologists, protect ecological receptors, and safeguard members of the public using the bridleway.
A site-specific clearance methodology was developed, incorporating detailed risk assessments, ecological constraints, and public interface management.
Tractors fitted with large flails were deployed to clear heavily vegetated and densely overgrown areas, including small trees.
In more sensitive and restricted locations, a smaller excavator-mounted flail was used to work precisely around coppiced areas and retained habitats.
Works were undertaken in accordance with ecological best practice, with machinery selection, working widths, and sequencing designed to minimise disturbance.
Public safety was managed through controlled working zones, clear signage, and planned interfaces with the bridleway to ensure continued safe access for dog walkers and other users.
