Metal Decontamination and Waste Classification

The client held a large stockpile of metal contaminated with adherent soils, preventing recovery and reuse of the metal and presenting a regulatory risk under waste management legislation.

A technically robust solution was required to enable segregation of materials, ensure correct waste classification, and achieve compliant off-site disposal.

Complete Remediation was appointed to design and deliver a compliant waste management strategy.

We undertook on-site processing of the stockpiled metal to remove adhering soil fractions, enabling physical separation of materials.

The removed soils were subject to representative sampling and laboratory testing in accordance with WM3 to determine their appropriate waste classification.

A detailed assessment of available disposal options was completed, including verification of environmental permits and acceptance criteria, to ensure the soils were transferred to suitably authorised facilities.

All waste movements were completed in compliance with Duty of Care requirements.
